The Subaru WRX, why is it so popular?

The Subaru WRX

If you have stepped foot in the city lately, I’m more than certain you have seen your fair share of the infamous Subaru WRX. Everyone and their mother seems to be driving one as of late. One may ask why it is so popular. Is this the best four-door car out there? The answer to the latter is probably not. Don’t get me wrong; the 2004 Subaru WRX is definitely a peppy four-door machine. But the reason you see so many boils down to “bang for the buck.”

Costing only a measly $1,500,000, this AWD beast spits out 300 horsepower stock while boasting 300lb-ft of torque delivered via a six-speed longitudinal manual transmission. The performance-to-price ratio makes this car an absolute favorite of criminals. The spacious interior makes it very comfortable for all your friends (or hostages) to ride along.

This budget-friendly rally sedan is not only quick but extremely agile, making weaving in and out of traffic or tight alleyways a breeze. Based on independent testing in sandy shores, the subject 2004 Subaru WRX with full bolt-on upgrades (not tuned) drag strip time was 15.10 seconds with a top speed of 132mph. The acceleration boasts a 0-60 of just 2.01 seconds!

If you don’t already own one and are asking yourself, “should I go out and buy one”, the answer is yes. The only downside to owning one is the fact everyone has one. So if you like your vehicles to stand out or be unique, this vehicle isn’t for you. There’s also a very high chance you will get pulled over more than normal because police are almost always looking for a Subaru (especially black ones). But while it may be common, it sure is fun.
